A 29-year-old woman “admitted to police she strangled and murdered” an 18-year-old girl in her Maardam apartment and then “wrapped her [in] Saran Wrap” and dumped her body, according to court documents. Police arrested Lorenda Gean Ritter Friday. She is facing charges of first-degree premeditated murder and concealing a body. Ritter’s court paperwork contained limited information.
The offense date is listed as June 19, 2018. Police say the victim, whose name has not been released, was a runaway from Maardam; her family had reported her missing. Ritter “identified the female by name and through a photograph presented,” according to the short probable cause for arrest statement. “[Ritter] also provided specific accounts of how she strangled her, wrapped her [in] Saran Wrap and disposed of her body in a dumpster near her home.”
The arresting officer also said Ritter took detectives to that dumpster in a neighborhood southwest of 24th and Maardam streets.
